All I Want for Christmas is Eight Hours Sleep, Peace of Mind & An MCR Singalong

Indifferent Ignorance has started snowing, so it’s time my darlings for this classic carol.

And this one.

Honestly if I don’t post these somewhere at this time of year, assume I’ve died. Anyway now I am actually feeling quite Christmassy. The sun sets at 4pm; the shop I work part time in is full to the brim with stockings, cinnamon candles and novelty bedspreads; my freelance work is nearly done and I have even managed most of my shopping. I accidentally bankrupted myself in the process, because my brother and I are getting presents between us but I went a bit overboard with my debit card before he gave me any cash, but still. Christmas is nearly here and I’m not completely immune to the odd Micheal Bubble song.

That being said, I am worried (and by worried I mean ‘just fending off panic’) about the following:

  • Getting visas in time for Asia
  • Getting cash for petrol so my mum can use my car when I’m in Asia, thus making my extortionate insurance worth having
  • Selling as many notebooks as possible this side of Christmas because they take up valuable wardrobe space (minimum orders of 100 units always seem like a great idea)
  • Selling as much from my shop as possible this side of Christmas because although my mum has offered to send things out while I’m away, I’d rather clear as many of those 100 units as I can while I’m in the country because I have an irrational inability to delegate tasks and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to cope watching someone else parcel up my precious merchandise
  • I’m on overtime at the shop next week (so byeee Christmas spirit) but because I’m leaving at New Year and I’m almost done freelancing I’m going to probably be broke as a joke when I’m back from Asia
  • I’ve already eaten too much chocolate and it’s only the 14th.

I have control over roughly two-thirds of that list, so I’m going to nip back to freelancing, text my brother about visas and work on holiday promotion. And by work on holiday promotion I mean remind you all that UK customers can get free postage on orders over £8 with the coupon SNOWFLAKE16 until 3rd January, and that shipping will be UK-only from January through April so if you’re overseas and you like something, get a move on.

Happy holidays!

Want a Christmas Present? feat. Rock ‘n’ Roll Xmas Videos

Never let it be said that I eschew Christmas traditions. It’s a tradition that I subject you to the world’s best Christmas music every year.

Okay and now I have a present for you guys. Yes, even you, person who stumbled across this on a weird tag. Those of you who come here sporadically might remember me talking about Headspace, the mediation app. I love doing Headspace; it’s the only time of day I get to feel smug that I’m looking after myself (and other people, because it’s helped me learn how to stay calm and clear my head). The app even has this cool feature where you get a little reward for completing a certain number of days – hit 20 days and you get a voucher to give to a friend for a month’s free use, that sort of thing. Problem is, I quite frequently forget to do a day here or there, so my counter goes back to one. I start up again, and when I next hit 20 days, a voucher hits my inbox.

I currently have seven of them.

So, my gift for you this year – other than the MCR video I’m about to list – is Headspace. If you want one of the month-free vouchers, leave a comment here saying happy Christmas/whatever you celebrate, and I’ll email you the access code. (Technical shit: all Headspace is free for 10 days, I have no idea how long the codes are valid but so far as I’m aware it’s forever, I can’t guarantee you’ll love meditating. Oh and there are only seven vouchers up for grabs, because I’m on a good streak at the moment. Gift open until 31st January.)

Oh, 2005. Merry Christmas!

Funny Story…

On Tuesday I woke up at eleven, which I never do, cooked breakfast, which I never do, and decided to chill out all day, which I never do. “I’ll write a leisurely blog and maybe go to the library,” I thought, “then catch up on some TV.” I did catch up on some TV, but I also got the worst headache I’ve ever had, so most of the day was spent trying to block out all external stimuli.

Anyway, I’ve gradually regained the ability to look at flickering screens and converse with other humans, so I thought I’d better do a blog and go through everything I meant to post last week, plus some other stuff.

  1. The blog is snowing as of today!!! Wooo it means it’s time to fix my one-eyed cat Christmas jumper and dig out a URL for Every Snowflake’s Different!
  2. I finished my Heroes of Olympus poster set, which I’m incredibly proud of. I made Annabeth’s two entire years ago after reading Mark of Athena, then got inspired by House of Hades to make a set for the Seven plus Nico, Thalia and Reyna. I’m glad I waited for the end of the series to make a lot of them, but I did feel like Sisyphus every time I tried to align a new set of text on Photoshop and come up with a snappy slogan for my favourite fictional snowflakes.
  3. I updated Etsy a lot! The Heroes set is now on there in its full glory as downloads and postcards; there’s a sale of some products whose listings end soon plus The Little Book of Indifferent Ignorance and I’ve ordered samples of new materials to test shinier products.

It’s was a nice week apart from the fact I didn’t go near a cup of coffee for nearly a week in case my skull shattered. Happy December!

Christmas Song Time!

I was going to say that this week has been pretty quiet compared to Friday but then I remembered that on Sunday I nearly set the house on fire when a nice long safety match splintered as I struck it and the lit bit flew onto a nearby patch of carpet.

But it’s okay, because my fingers didn’t get burnt.

So it’s December, which means chocolate at weird times is good and this is suitable to sing loudly. On a scale of one to Poseidon getting it on with Medusa in Athena’s temple, how inappropriate is it to play the following at inter-school parties?

And this, which for some reason won’t embed. Very tempted to make a band just to name it after a book.

Happy Almost-Birthday, Jesus

Merry Christmas, snowflakes.

Original, slightly clearer version, with a blog-rant by Tim here.

Mishty and I haven’t finished #ProjectSnowflake yet, but the original is here.

“As in previous years, all proceeds from the sale of this song during the month of December 2012 will go to the National Autistic Society (NAS).” Head over to iTunes, Amazon or 7digital to do something simultaneously nice and legal.

Who needs Mariah when you have Gerard, anyway?

…And who needs actual songs when you have Tobi?

When WordPress lets SoundCloud embed like it ought, I’ll do a SoundCloud jam blog. Until then, xmas sux.

Happy birthday, Jesus!

#ProjectSnowflake REBORN

I’m supposed to be blogging really important things, but Strictly‘s on and we’re watching Star Wars later so you can read my DeviantART post instead:

The computer put the Fifty Shades adds back in. Eh. It’s here.

Basically: please please do something! I don’t care how you link it to me – Twitter, email, a comment, dA or the MCRmy boards… I don’t mind what you do either, as long as it’s an image. Including the #ProjectSnowflake hashtag would be good. Please.

Must dash, I want to spell-check in time for Craig’s comments.

#ProjectSnowflake

**UPDATE** We are now only accepting images due to technology and time restraints. But don’t let that stem your creativity!

Original post:

Since it’s Mikey Way’s birthday I thought I’d write something MCR-related for a change (there’s a Mikey art appreciation post on The Webways).

I can’t remember how much I have/have not discussed this, but, along with PerceivedOrder, I have been doing an MCRmy thing called #ProjectSnowflake. It started way back in April during #MCRchat, when Cassie asked if we would like to see Every Snowflake’s Different released as a single. The majority of us said “Yes please!” and after chatting about it for a while, Perceived and I came up with the idea for #ProjectSnowflake.

It is a mission to make a video of Snowflake (or snowflake) related art accompanying a message asking the band if they would consider working with Yo Gabba Gabba! and releasing the song, perhaps as a charity single, around Christmas. The art itself can be in the form of a video (you laughing at the band’s costumes counts as art), a clip of a younger friend or family member rocking out, a painting or drawing, a Photoshop logo, anything. Just show your appreciation for the song and its message, and include the hashtag #ProjectSnowflake.

So far we have this contribution, courtesy of the lovely RabidKilljoy, as well as another piece WP won’t upload:

I’m working on my piece at the moment, and I’d love it if you lot could get involved. For those of you who have forgotten the genius of the song, it’s here. You can either email your contributions to indifferentignorance@hotmail.co.uk or submit them to the MCRmy.com thread, by 28th October 2012. Hint: it’s my birthday on Wednesday and My Chem-related gifts are always the shiniest.

It’s also a year today since I started 10 Years, 10 Days. How ’bout that… Sceptic Psychic, MCRmy Project Extrodinare Crazy Lady.
